The latest family of woods from TaylorMade, led by the technology changing M3 and M4 drivers, are here in a big way. Having already won this year on the PGA Tour (Dustin Johnson at the Sentry Tournament of Champions playing the new TaylorMade M4 Driver) the new M3 and M4 drivers incorporate a load of new and improved technology that is beneficial for professional and amateur golfers alike.
The most prominent addition to the new M series of drivers is the Twist face technology, a radical departure from the traditional driver face design. Twist Face is engineered to hit drives farther and straighter, allowing even the most off-center shots to go straight down the middle. The new twist face technology works by implementing a corrective face angle to reduce side spin and deliver straighter shots. With a higher loft in the high-end of the toe and lower loft in the low end of the heal further produces more consistent sidespin in the areas where most golfers commonly mis-hit.
TaylorMade M3 Driver
At first glance, the new Twist Face may not be the most noticeable improvement to the highly adjustable driver. The bottom of the club features a new track system. The Y-Track incorporates two seamlessly moveable weights, allowing for golfers to adjust their settings for optimal trajectory, maximum forgiveness, or raw speed. For the first time, the connected Y-Track system gives golfers ultimate adjustability with the unrestricted movement of two 11g weights (22g total).
To go along with the new Y-Track Technology is the new Hammerhead Slot. An improvement of the Speed Pockets of previous models, the Hammerhead Slot creates a massive sweet spot that pushes ball speed to the limits, producing distance and forgiveness across the entire face.
The reinforced outer portions of the slot allow for a lighter, more flexible face, while the center portion of the slot increases ball speed on low-face strikes and drops spin for more distance. The result is a powerful and forgiving driver that delivers exceptional sound and feel.
All of these fantastic features, combined with the new Twist Face technology, create a driver that is seriously long and deadly accurate. The M3 comes in two different options, a 460cc and a 440cc model, each of which has various specs and available options.
TaylorMade M3 Fairway
The all-new M3 Fairway Wood from TaylorMade is built for sticking pins and splitting fairways. Whether you want to reach a par-5 in two or thread the needle and find the fairway, the M3 fairway is your go-to club.
In the M3 fairway, golfers gain the added benefit of a 29g sliding sole weight and a 12-position, 4° Loft Sleeve. Using the TaylorMade wrench tool, M3 can be quickly adjusted to personalize the club’s settings to achieve a preferred ball flight.
New to the M3 fairway is a lengthened Speed Pocket that provides more flexibility and exceptional ball speeds on low-face strikes. The result is more forgiveness on mis-hits.
All of these added benefits plus a lighter, 5-layer carbon crown and new carbon sole plate free up weight to produce a lower, more powerful center of gravity.
TaylorMade M3 Rescue
Rescue clubs, also known as Hybrids, are easy to hit options off the tee and in the fairway when you’re looking to find the green from long distance or lay it back in the fairway and play it safe. The 2018 M3 Rescue combines TaylorMade technologies and Tour-inspired shaping, so you can execute under pressure and enter the clubhouse with a story.
M3 Rescue features an easily adjustable sliding weight and Loft Sleeve. Using the TaylorMade wrench tool, golfers can quickly personalize the settings to achieve their preferred ball flight.
Like the M3 fairway, the M3 Rescue incorporates a new Speed Pocket, providing more flexibility and ball speed on low-face strikes. The M3 Rescue also features a two-tone crown cosmetic to encourage proper alignment and inspire confidence when standing over your next shot.
TaylorMade M4 Driver
Like the M3 Model, the new M4 Driver institutes the new Twist Face technology to help off-center shots go straighter than ever before by reducing side spin on off-center shots and producing more consistent sidespin in the areas of the club where golfers of all types commonly mis-hit shots.
The M4’s new Hammerhead slot creates a massive sweet spot that pushes ball speed to the max to produce distance and forgiveness across the entire face.
Reinforced outer portions of the slot allow for a lighter, more flexible face, while the center portion of the slot increases ball speed on low-face strikes and drops spin for more distance. The result is a powerful and forgiving driver that delivers exceptional sound and feel.
The Geoacoustic approach designed into the M4 incorporates new technology in advanced sole shaping to deliver a solid and explosive sound with exceptional feel. The recessed sole contour also frees up the volume to produce a larger clubface with a 67% larger sweet spot.
TaylorMade offers the new M4 in two different models; the traditional M4 and the M4 D-Type. The M4 D-Type is a draw biased driver engineered to eliminate the dreaded slice and features a two-tone crown cosmetic that is slightly altered to make the face appear more open, resulting in a more closed face at impact. Additionally, 41 grams of weight have been moved towards the heel of the club to deliver a draw bias.
TaylorMade M4 Fairway
Placing shots in the middle of the fairway off the tee or going for a par-5 in two, the new M4 Fairway is a must have for all situations. TaylorMade incorporated the new Speed Pocket and Inverted Cone Technology in the M4 Fairway to create more ball speed and more forgiveness along with a larger sweet spot.
In the M4 fairway, are split internal weights that increase forgiveness and promote more ball speed across the face, helping golfers find the center cut with greater consistency.
Like the M4 driver, Geoacoustic Technology utilizes an intricate blend of geometric and acoustical engineering to give the M4 fairway versatile playability and superior feel.
The TaylorMade M4 Fairway is available in two different models. The standard M4 Fairway and the M4 Tour Fairway.
