Tom Lewis: Hi. My name is Tom Lewis. I’m a Ping staff player, and hopefully here I can give you a tip on some of your putting this weekend. Here, as you can see, we have a 7 foot putt straight up the hill. I’ve actually lined this up to where I think this is inside-right. The key with this putt is, to most people, they feel like quite a lot of pressure because it’s quite a straightforward putt, but the key to keep this under control is to keep the putter face through impact low to the ground so it doesn’t come up. It stays through and through to the target. Hopefully, you play your best this weekend.
Tom Lewis Bio – Regained his European Tour playing rights by claiming the 15th card at 2016 European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage. Had previously looked in danger of losing the European Tour card he claimed in such dramatic fashion in the 2011 Portugal Masters, but a superb display at the 2013 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship – where he finished in a tie for third place – saved an otherwise disappointing season. Won his maiden European Tour title in only his third professional start in Portugal after a stunning final round 65, becoming the then joint-third quickest Affiliate Member to win on the European Tour. Shot to fame at The 140th Open Championship after posting the lowest score by an amateur in Open Championship history in the first round at Royal St. George’s, a brilliant 65 leaving him tied for the lead after round one, before eventually finishing tied 30th and winning the Silver Medal as the leading amateur. Played a part in the successful 2011 Walker Cup team shortly before turning professional. Hails from Welwyn Garden City, the same club as Sir Nick Faldo. Was named after his father’s golfing hero, and the man he shared the tee with in his famous first round at The 2011 Open with Tom Watson (from EuropeanTour.com).
