RSi – Tale of the Tape

“A lot of people think that pros hit it perfect all the time but we don’t. We mis-hit shots but they still go on the green. We’ve just honed our skills to make our mis-hits a little straighter.” – Jason Day

RSi is the #1 Iron in Play at the 2015 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

The RSi came out as by far and away the most played iron at this year’s Pro-Am. For the amateurs, this week is their “major” and for them to switch into a new set of irons in the biggest tournament of their golfing year is a testament to RSi’s revolutionary performance. Highlights:

  • RSi is the #1 iron family used by amateurs, with 51 sets in play
  • RSi 2 is the #1 iron model used by amateurs, with 27 in play (To put this in perspective, the #2 brand had a total of 25 sets between all of their models!)
  • 55% of amateurs this year are using a TaylorMade iron

This year, in partnership with the tournament, they debuted the TaylorMade Flight Deck. The new structure is placed around the 3rd, 4th and 17th holes allowing patrons unsurpassed views of the beautiful Pebble Beach Golf Links. From the TaylorMade Flight Deck you can watch 3 holes simultaneously, marking the only place on the golf course where you can see this much golf. They are running a giveaway on the Flight Deck all week where if any amateur playing RSi irons hits the green, we’re giving away a sleeve of Project (a) Balls to anyone standing on the Flight Deck. If an amateur should get a hole-in-one, everyone on the Flight Deck will win a set of RSi irons!

Check out the photos below and look for the Flight Deck during coverage this week.

In addition they have a special feature about their swing robot on the 17th hole at Pebble Beach showcasing how Face Slot Technology works. Look out for this on CBS.

Love and Couples Welcome Nick Price as Newest Member of Bridgestone Golf Captains' Club

Bridgestone Golf Tour Team Members Set To Captain Golf’s Marquee Team Events in 2012-13

COVINGTON, GEORGIA – Bridgestone Golf, the #1 ball-fitter in golf, is proud to congratulate Fred Couples and Nick Price on their official selections as 2013 Presidents Cup American and International team captains, respectively. Captain Couples will attempt to lead his 3rd straight U.S. squad to victory in the prestigious event. For 2013 International captain, Nick Price, the 2013 Presidents Cup will provide his first opportunity to lead an international team.

The 2013 Presidents Cup will take place on the venerable Muirfiled Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio September 30th – October 6th of next year. Couples and Price shared the distinction of two of the best players in the world during the nineties, with a combined career total of 33 PGA TOUR victories, including 4 major championships, between them. With his selection, Price now has the distinction of being the captain with the most Presidents Cup experience, having played for the International team a total of five times (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2003). Couples played in four President Cups as a member of the United States team (1994, 1996, 1998 and 2005). Couples compiled a 9-5-2 record in his Presidents Cup career, compared to Price’s 8-11-4. Presently, Couples and Price both rely on the 2012 Bridgestone Tour B330 golf ball as they continue to add chapters to their storybook careers on the Champions Tour.

The announcement of Couples and Price as Presidents Cup captains in 2013 gives Bridgestone Golf the honor of claiming 3 out of 4 skippers in golf’s marquee team events over the next 18 months, with Davis Love III preparing to lead the U.S. team at this September’s 2012 Ryder Cup Matches at Medinah.

“Team Bridgestone members are captaining golf’s biggest team events and winning some of the sport’s biggest individual championships, so we could not be more proud of our tour team than we are right now,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc. “Like the rest of the golf world, we look forward to seeing the creative ideas Davis, Fred and Nick have for inspiring their teams.”

Enhanced Ergonomics help PING’s Hoofer bag win “Hot List” Gold

PHOENIX (May 8, 2012) – PING’s Hoofer® carry bag has won Gold on the 2012 Golf Digest “Hot List” ranking of the industry’s highest-performing products. The results are published in the June issue of the magazine.

In recognizing the Hoofer, editors singled out its dual sliding shoulder pads and innovative strap slider, which provides a backpack-style fit and makes the bag easy to slide on and off. These features are part of PING’s Enhanced Ergonomics (E2®), which includes a leg-retention strap that keeps the legs snug while walking. A reinforced bracket with leg stops ensures stable, secure leg extension on all surfaces. At approximately 5 pounds, the Hoofer has a roomy five-way, reinforced top to make club removal and replacement easy. Eight pockets include those for valuables, a range-finder, and apparel.

“The Hoofer is a wonderful example of how E2 has enabled us to advance comfort, adjustability and durability while ensuring that our bags can be fit to any player’s body type and carrying style,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “At PING, our emphasis on innovation, performance and custom-fitting extends well beyond golf clubs. The Hoofer winning ‘Hot List’ Gold is further validation of our efforts to make sure every product carrying the PING name is the highest quality.”

Of the 65 bags tested, only eight were awarded Gold. Including the Silvers given to its 4 Series® and Pioneer® bags, PING tied for the most awards.
