CALLAWAY GOLF’S 2012 PRODUCT LINE TOPS GOLF DIGEST’S “HOT LIST”

Callaway Earns More 2012 Medals than Any Other Club Manufacturer in Comprehensive Review

RAZR Fit Driver Named Editor’s Choice; Odyssey’s New Metal-X Line Dominates Putter Categories

CARLSBAD, CA, January 3, 2012 – Callaway Golf Company’s (NYSE: ELY) soon-to-be-released 2012products received an outstanding vote of approval from Golf Digest’s annual “Hot List” issue, arriving onnewsstands this week. The Hot List is a comprehensive golf equipment evaluation conducted by Golf Digest Publications’ 38-person team of equipment editors, scientists, low-, mid- and high-handicap playertesters, as well as golf retailers. Over the course of several months, 286 separate entries were submitted and evaluated for the 2012 Hot List. In the end, only a fraction received Gold and Silver Medaldistinctions, and Callaway Golf Company earned more of them than any golf equipment manufacturer.

Leading the charge was Callaway’s new RAZR Fit Driver, which earned a coveted Editor’s Choiceselection, was distinguished as the best in Performance among the 32 drivers that were considered, and earned top marks in Innovation and Look/Sound/Feel. “It was love at first smite,” said Golf Digest HotList judge John Strege, who added that the club was “Straight on two counts. Straight down the middle and straight into my bag.”

Also in the bags of elite Tour Pros such as Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els, RAZR Fit made a resoundingstatement last month on a grand stage when Callaway Staff Professional Alvaro Quiros rode Callaway’s adjustable driver to victory at the Dubai World Championship, averaging an incredible 312.7 yards perdrive. The much-anticipated RAZR Fit Driver will be available at retail on February 17.Callaway’s RAZR X Black™ Driver, also new for 2012, earned a Silver Medal in the 2012 Hot List, as well as high praise from the editors and testers. Callaway’s new RAZR X Black Irons earned a Gold Medal inthe competitive Game-Improvement Irons category, prompting one low-handicap player to comment,”Every shot felt pure.” RAZR XF captured Gold in the Super-Game Improvement Irons category andwas awarded 5-stars for Innovation. Golf Digest labeled RAZR XF “a technological tour de force.” Alsoin the Super-Game Improvement category, Callaway’s new RAZR X HL Irons prompted Golf Digest tooffer that “…you can hit it all over the face and still get a decent result.” Callaway’s original RAZR XIrons were a big hit once again, winning a Hot List Gold Medal for the second straight year.In the Putter categories, Callaway’s leading Odyssey® brand dominated the competition with theintroduction of its new line of Metal-X™ putters. Texas Can't Hold Him – Mickelson Wins

600x352

Phil Mickelson won the Shall Houston Open on Sunday, bolstered largely by two stellar weekend rounds that have him primed for another run at this week’s Georgia State Invitational golf tournament in the town of Augusta. There were no “problems” in Houston (get it?) for Mickelson, whose 2011 season “lifted off” with a course-record 63 on Saturday. He followed that with a 7-under-par 65 on Sunday to win by three shots. With the win he “launched” himself to No. 3 in the official world golf rankings and No. 2 in the FedExCup standings. (Those were NASA puns, by the way. Because NASA has a space center in Houston. And the tournament was also in Houston. So both things are in Houston. Surely, you see the connection there.)

Here is what Phil had in the bag:
RAZR Hawk Prototype Driver (9.5 degrees), Big Bertha Diablo 3-wood (15 degrees), RAZR X muscle back irons (5-PW), X-Forged Irons (3-iron and 4-iron), X-Series JAWS Wedges (52, 60 and 64 degrees), Odyssey White Hot XG #9 Putter and the Tour i(z) Golf Ball. —> http://www. worldwidegolfshops.com

Mickelson thanks Callaway after victory
Here’s what Phil said following his win:
“This week is a great example of why I believe in 2004 signing with Callaway was the best decision I ever made for my career. Because when I had a bit of an issue, the head of R & D flew out, and because I’ve been experimenting with a couple drivers, he wanted to make sure I had the right ones. He brought the backups. I drove it great all week. It’s a great example of why I feel that was the best decision I’ve ever made for my career, and I went on to win this week. And so I’m just very appreciative to the commitment they’ve made to me and that I get to be with them.”

What does winning mean to Phil? Watch this video to find out

Dressed for success, Mickelson wears Callaway apparel
330-yard drives and a birdie putting barrage is all well and good, but let’s be honest: the real story of the week was the breathability of Mickelson’s Callaway shirts. Phil wore Callaway apparel and Callaway footwear on his way to victory. (Those were some flashy brown kicks on Saturday, by the way.)

NOTES:

Phil’s stats
Mickelson used his Callaway RAZR Hawk Driver to average 314.6 yards off the tee this week, 6th best in the field. He also tied for 3rd in the field in putts per GIR, averaging 1.643 for the tournament using his Odyssey White Hot XG #9 Putter. With his RAZR X muscle back irons, X-Forged irons and JAWS Wedges, Lefty hit 78 percent of greens in regulation; 11th best in the field. He also caused Lee Westwood’s caddie to bow down in reverence after a spicy chip-in on Saturday with his JAWS Wedge.

J.B. Holmes leads field in driving distance

Phil Mickelson wasn’t the only one producing NASA-style liftoffs with his Callaway driver in Houston. J.B. Holmes led the field in average driving distance by averaging an absurd 326 yards with his Callaway FT Tour Driver.

White Driver Wins Again

First PGA Tour Win for Burner® SuperFast 2.0 Driver as Martin Laird Wins Arnold Palmer Invitational

Laird Ranked Fifth in Driving Distance (296.6); Also Plays New R11 Fairway, Daytona Ghost Putter

TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Martin Laird won the Arnold Palmer Invitational playing the new white Burner SuperFast 2.0 driver. Laird’s second PGA Tour victory marks the sixth worldwide for TaylorMade’s white drivers and comes just three weeks after putting the club in his bag, at Doral.

Laird has ranked first (313.1), third (300.8), and fifth (296.6) in average driving distance at consecutive PGA Tour events. The added power helped him notch top-10 finishes at the WGC-Cadillac Championship (T10) and Transitions Championship (T5) before Sunday’s breakthrough win at Bay Hill.

Laird also played the new R11 fairway (4-wood) and a Rossa Daytona Ghost mid-length putter; he wore FORMOTION apparel and adiPURE footwear from adidas Golf.  On a day that will be remembered for its incredibly fast, firm conditions, it was Laird’s stoic up-and-down on 17 and two-putt from 86 feet on the treacherous 18th green that secured the trophy.

Five of the top-10 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational used a white TaylorMade driver. Laird’s victory increases TaylorMade’s worldwide driver win total to 13 this year – more than any other brand

In Laird’s Bag:

  • Burner SuperFast 2.0 10.5°
  • R11 fairway 17°
  • R9 fairway 19°
  • Tour Preferred, 3-4
  • R9 TP 5-PW
  • Rossa Daytona Ghost Midsize
  • FORMOTION apparel
  • adiPURE footwear

Notable:

  • Martin Laird wins the Arnold Palmer Invitational playing the new Burner SuperFast 2.0 driver, R11 4-wood and Daytona Ghost putter.
  • Laird’s win marks the sixth worldwide for TaylorMade’s white drivers, the R11 and Burner SuperFast 2.0
  • Laird, who first switched to the Burner SuperFast 2.0 at Doral, has ranked first (313.1), third (300.8), and fifth (296.6) in average driving distance at consecutive PGA Tour events.
  • The victory increased TaylorMade’s worldwide driver win total to 13 this year – more than any other brand.
