At the tender age of 22 years old Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy claimed his first major title, the US Open at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
Rory’s wire to wire victory shattered many records, he is the youngest US Open Champion since Bob Jones in 1923, he beat the 72 hole score by four shots and was the most strokes under par beating Tiger’s previous record by four shots.
Lets take a closer look at some the equipment Rory was using during the U.S. Open.
PUMA Golf pro, Rickie Fowler, looks to turn heads with his golf game and his stylish outfits at this week’s US Open Championship at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. This will be Rickie’s third appearance at the US Open and he is certainly no stranger to the big stage, having made the cut as an amateur in the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, CA.
Rickie has been prepping for this week’s major by practicing back in California and feels confident about the state of his game. Asked last week if he felt his game fit the US Open, Rickie stated, “It fits my game really well. My game’s in really good form right now. Going into the Open, a lot of it’s survival. You’re going to make bogeys. Hopefully get some birdies going, minimal bogeys. Over the last two to four years I’ve gotten smarter about how to play. That’ll definitely help me in the Open. I feel like I’ll have control over it. Fairways, middle of the green, two putts and move on. Pars are going to be key, sneak a few birdies, and hang on until Sunday.”
In his last appearance on Tour at The Memorial, Rickie led the field in birdies for the week with a total of 26. Rickie will be looking to continue that birdie train, but reduce the mistakes. It is sure to be an exciting week as Rickie is paired with Cobra (hyperlink) staff pro Ian Poulter for the first two rounds.
Rickie will also be debuting a new special edition Cell Fusion shoe which will be available in limited quantities at select retailers. Don’t miss out on your chance to own these unique shoes!
Check out this spectacular clip of Rickie Fowler getting warmed up for the US Open earlier this week at the Red Bull promotion in D.C. This is truly amazing!

The win by Frazar proves that anything can happen in golf, and it helps set the table for next week. Many unheralded golfers have won major titles in the past few years. That means that the big names and favorites at Congressional might all wind up looking at someone we never expected to win.
As the St. Jude Classic proves, anything can happen.
Lets take a look at a few clubs that he used during the tourney.
